| The Activizers Group of Wheatley Memorial
Institute of Information Sciences (a 501.c.3 not-for-profit
corporation) has been helping our military veterans in the
conception and implementation of small, family-owned business and
computer-oriented marketing since 1976. The members of our group are
retired veterans who were fortunate to have been able to reap the
benefits of an excellent Veterans program. This program was no
longer available, in its original form, for the veterans of the Viet
Nam war. We became shockingly aware of the difficulties these veterans were having in not only obtaining gainful employment but readjusting to civilian life in a society that had significantly changed. We could feel the pain so we decided to help by creating the New Business Tutor. This program has helped many veterans successfully start and operate their own businesses. By 1982 the economy had recovered so we terminated the program. Then, in 2007 we could see that the economy again was under an intense strain and a new crop of military veterans is facing the same employment issues as were the Viet Nam veterans. We rewrote the New Business Tutor program to conform to the many new laws and regulations in place today and it is again available to veterans.
